Here is a “hearsay” smoothie — someone on one of the raw food forums (sorry, I don’t remember which one) said that that Sarma Mengalis had posted this smoothie on her site OneLuckyDuck (but, in my impatient searching, I could not find it, and I realized I had forgotten where I had seen the reference)
-about a half a bunch of cilantro
-half a cucumber
-a red grapefruit
-pinch of sea salt
-agave nector to taste
-a squeeze of lime
Sounds delicious. I have most of the ingredients – will march off to get the rest tomorrow, and let you know…………
I made that finger food, but then i decided to see if a smoothie would work for water (NOT) before hot yoga.
I put in one of the heads of mystery lettuce I got yesterday, 1/4 red bell pepper, about 6 of the tiny onions I got two weeks ago, the tomato I got yesterday, 1/2 of the cute sweet yellow cherry tomato tomatoes (I want to eat the rest – they are so sweet!), and half of a cucumber I had left over. Since I was going to hot yoga, i did not put any garlic in, but I threw in a liberal amount of Tabasco.
It came out a yucky green but it was definitely palatable. I am going to a party, so I am not going to add the garlic it needs to the leftover..

I had two bunches of rhubarb from a share a couple of weeks ago, and I had not done anything with it, so I decided to take a chance — I remembered that the rhubarb tasted lemony last year…..
I put 10-12 stalks of rhubarb into the Vitamix with 2 cups of water and a sprinkle of stevia and let the Vitamix do its thing.
I got a lemony smoothie textured drink. Yum…. My room-mate wanted to know what was in it (she likes to copy things I make on occasion)

4-5 leaves of kale
water to taste
In a blender, process all ingredients well.

One large pink grapefruit, peeled
Two medium lemons, peeled
Three medium carrots
Process through Champion juicer.
• Replace grapefruit with 1 lg or 2 med. oranges
• Replace lemons-with one orange.

CARROT JUICE BLEND
A good wake-up drink
1 beet with greens
1 stalk celery
1 lg handful of spinach
1 lg handful of parsley
1 green pepper
1-3 cloves garlic (to taste)
1 slice of ginger
2-1/2 lbs. carrots
(usually half of a 5 lb bag)
Juice carrots, beet, celery, pepper, garlic, and ginger through a Champion juicer.
Process all ingredients in a blender.
