KALE CHIPS AGAIN!

I made kale chips last night for my trip.  Gosh! They came out good!  Only problem was I ate almost one whole tray (of the three I put in the dehydrator).

I am going to try to score some more cashews tonight so I can make some more for the trip.  That would be good.

CSA SHARE 11-13-08 – What I really got

WHAT THEY SAID WE’D GET WHAT WE GOTGREEN CRISP LETTUCE…………..1 hd……red boston lettuce
RUTABAGA………………..1 pc……3 pc.
CARROTS………………….1 bun
BABY TURNIPS……………1 bun
FINGERLING POTATOES..1 qt
BEETS………………………1 bun.…celeriac with tops… 2 pc.
BROCCOLI…………………1 hd
MIXED KALE………………1 bun….dinosaur kale
MIXED APPLES……………1 bag

I got almost everything they said I would get. Although, I got no beets, I got three medium size celeriacs *with tops*. According to the board at the CSA pick-up, I was supposed to get parsley, but I did not.

I picked up an extra rutabaga and another bunch of baby turnips from the trade box (I traded the parsley).
The CSA board said we would get dinosaur kale, but I got red kale. I saw some dinosaur kale peeking out of the top of another box, so I switched my kale for the dinosaur (most people don’t know one kale from another anyway, and it is a toss-up what you will get in your box). Then, I found a tossed red kale in the trade box, so I traded it for another dinosaur kale.

Tomorrow night, I will make a big bowl of marinated greens with the turnip greens, one or two leaves of the celeriac greens, the broccoli greens, and the kale.

I will save back two or three leaves of the kale for green smoothies.

I will make a rutabaga salad with two of the rutabagas, with apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and a little garlic.

Some of the turnips will go into salads, some into green smoothies, and some into turnip salad, with apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and a little garlic.

I also got a small bag of apples. Apple juice? Yum!!
